The G20 Presidential Side Event, SOE International Conference was held by the Ministry of SOEs with the theme "Driving Sustainable and Inclusive Growth". In addition to talking about the Economy, Digitalization, and Health, Transitional Energy is an interesting main topic to be raised as a topic of discussion at this conference.
Deputy Minister 1 of SOEs, Pahala Mansury was one of the speakers in the panel on the topic of Energy Transition and Green Development for Sustainable Growth, along with Amy Chua from Schlumberger, Ramesh Subramainam from Asian Development Bank (ADB), and Kein Hag from AWS Asia Pacific.
Pahala opened the discussion by conveying the importance of Energy Resilience and Independence in Indonesia. The Ministry of SOEs has prepared short- and medium-term strategies to see the growing industry trend.
"The Ministry of SOEs has implemented at least five initiatives to maintain energy security, namely by Building New and Renewable Energy, Transition Energy, Building an EV Ecosystem in Indonesia, Carbon Offset, and Building a greener Industry," pahala said.
These policies and strategies are in line with the Sustainability pathway that has been formulated by the MIND ID Group. MIND ID Together with its members PT Antam Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Inalum (Persero), PT Timah Tbk continue to be committed to accelerating and supporting the Energy Transition to be realized soon.
In the context of building an EV Ecosystem, mind id group fully supports and plays an active role in making it happen. This is realized from the initiation of MIND ID which has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Arrival Ltd which led to PT Indonesia Battery Company (IBC) to join the study of ev microfactory development in Asia Pacific.
The Decarbonization Program is also the main focus in the discussion of the SOE International Conference. It is recorded that throughout 2021 to 2022, the MIND ID Group has implemented carbon reduction and carbon offset programs that can reduce GHG emissions by more than 400 thousand tons of C02e or 28% of the emission reduction target by 2030.
Dany Amrul Ichdan as Director of Institutional Relations of MIND ID said, every Member has a target towards carbon reduction, so that the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target in 2060 and carbon reduction of 28% in 2030 can be achieved.
This concrete step of the Decarbonization program cannot be regarded as something that burdens the Company, even though in practice it has an impact on increasing financing, but this is a form of responsibility in maintaining sustainability.
