PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk (Chandra Asri Group), through its subsidiary, PT Chandra Asri Alkali (CAA), has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum) in order to support the development of aluminum downstreaming while realizing the acceleration of a sustainable domestic electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.

Inalum will also conduct an investment feasibility study of CAA to look at opportunities for share ownership in CAA. The intention of this cooperation is expected to contribute to supporting one of the priorities of the government of the Republic of Indonesia in providing added value to raw material commodities.

President Director & CEO of Chandra Asri Group, Erwin Ciputra said, with this collaboration, Chandra Asri Group can contribute to encouraging the creation of a downstream ecosystem, especially in the aluminum mineral sector and support the acceleration of the domestic electric vehicle industry.

In the next stage, the alumina will be used by Inalum as raw material through its smelter facility into aluminum.

Furthermore, Inalum has a strategic role considering that aluminum is one of the main raw materials needed in the development of national industries, including in the development of electric vehicles and electric batteries in the Republic of Indonesia.
