PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), a member of the MIND ID Group, started the construction of a new coal handling facility to increase coal transportation capacity through the Tanjung Enim - Keramasan railway link. This was marked by a groundbreaking procession carried out in Tanjung Enim on Saturday (12/30/2023).

There are 3 new coal handling facilities built. The first is two Train Loading Stations (TLS) with a capacity of 3,000 tons per hour each along with rail loops. Then two Conveyor System lines along 13 km and 17 km, each with a capacity of 3,000 tons per hour. In addition, three dump hoppers that can be used dump trucks with capacities of 60 tons and 100 tons.

The construction of these facilities is part of PTBA's collaboration with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI in the development of coal transportation between Tanjung Enim - Keramasan. Facilities and infrastructure for train transportation modes were prepared by PT KAI, while for dock facilities in Keramasan PT Kereta Api Logistik (Kalog) was built.

In his speech at this event, Deputy President Director of MIND ID Dany Amrul Ichdan expressed his hope that the construction of this coal handling facility would not only advance the Company, but also bring benefits to the community.

"The advancement of corporate strategy must also provide benefits for sustainable community development. This is the mandate of SOEs for sustainability. That this investment will be a milestone to develop new ports in the future. This development is a legacy for the current government to be continued by the new government, creating masterpieces for Indonesia and especially SOEs," said Dany.

He also advised that in strategic BUMN projects, there must be a participating industry within the framework of developing local wisdom involving the community.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Arsal Ismail explained, increasing transportation capacity is a strategic step to support the Company's performance.

"PTBA is one of the largest coal producers in Indonesia with reserves of 3.02 billion tons and resources of 5.85 billion tons. Increasing transportation capacity needs to be done to accelerate the monetization of coal reserves. This project supports the Company's growth through increasing revenue from increasing coal sales volume," said Arsal.

Coal transportation between Tanjung Enim - Keramasan will increase PTBA's coal transportation capacity up to 20 million tons per year. "With the addition of this capacity, PTBA can further contribute to supporting national energy security," Arsal emphasized.

As a member of the MIND ID Group, PTBA's move also supports MIND ID's vision and target to become one of the Global Fortune 500 companies.

Also present to witness this groundbreaking, among others, EVP Divre III Palembang PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Yuskal Setiawan, Assistant Deputy for Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of SOEs Heri Purnomo, VP Corporate Planning of PT Kereta Api Logistik (Kalog) Budi S, Associate Auditor of the South Sumatra Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) Imron Rosidi, and the South Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office represented by the Muara Enim State Attorney's Office.
