PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) is committed to meeting domestic coal needs. PTBA Corporate Secretary Niko Chandra stated that the commitment to domestic supply or Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) in the first quarter of 2024 has increased compared to the same period in the previous year.

"The DMO realization recorded 5.9 million tons, reflecting a growth of 14%. PTBA remains committed to fulfilling domestic needs to maintain national energy security," Niko told Kontan on Wednesday (24/7).

Niko continued, PTBA also continues to optimize coal export market opportunities.

Throughout January-March 2024, PTBA's total coal production reached 7.3 million tons, an increase of 7% compared to the same period in 2023.

Meanwhile, PTBA's coal sales reached 9.7 million tons, an increase of 10% year on year (yoy).

Previously, Acting Executive Director of APBI Gita Mahyarani stated that the organization continues to encourage its members to fulfill domestic needs as an obligation.

"So far, DMO fulfillment has been continuously pursued by the members. Usually, DMO is handled per company since we only have 94 members. According to data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), DMO achievement as of April reached 60.61 million tons," Gita told Kontan on Tuesday (23/7).
